IBMA ANNOUNCES NOMINEES FOR AWARDS SHOW

Today, Aug. 9, 2001, IBMA Announced the nominated Candidates for the Annual IBMA Awards show to be held October 4, in Louisville, Ky. at the Kentucky Center for the Arts. This will be held in conjunction with the IBMA World Of Bluegrass, and the IBMA Fan Fest.

Finally - A.P., Sara and Maybelle, the Carter Family –- will join the Bluegrass Hall of Honor.

Just learned that "The Grand Ol Opry" will switch It's broadcasts from TNN to CMT, effective August 14. They will eliminate the Opry Backstage segment, and expand Opry coverage to a full hour, with cutaways for back stage interviews. It will also be aired 2 times on the weekend instead of one. If you don't get CMT, holler loudly at your Cable Company. More details as they become available.

It is with the utmost sadness, that I report that John Cowan Hartford passed away on Monday, June 4, 2001, at approximately 4:30 PM after a long battle with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma. God Bless the man, his life, and his music. He will leave a void in the Bluegrass/Folk community that will be impossible to fill. Rest In Peace, John, and stay, "GENTLE ON MY MIND".
